Product Details Small Temperature and Depth Fish Archival Tag: The world‘s smallest temperature and depth logging archival fish tag. Ideal for very small fish or marine animals for long term behaviour and migration studies. Developed in co-operation with fish biologists. High performance in small size: Dimensions are only 25.4 mm x 8.3 mm and it weighs 3.3 g in air. Despite the small size of the logger, the DST micro-TD Data Storage Tag has high reliability and long lifetime. Therefore it is suitable for long term behaviour and migration studies of small fish, smolt and marine animals. Application: Designed as an archival tag for migration, feeding and dive behavioral studies of small fish, seabirds and marine animals. The recorded time series data enable scientists to gain valuable information on migration routes and behavioural patterns over a long period of time. The tag can be implanted or attached externally. Long life and flexible interval setup: Can store 87,168 measurements in total, allowing data storage for 2.5 years at a 30-minute interval. Multiple intervals can be set, and different intervals can be chosen for measuring depth and temperature. Depth sensors for different ranges: User can select between depth calibration up to 150 m, 300 m, or 1000 m. Shallower ranges provide better resolution and accuracy. Fish implantation or external attachment: Designed for implantation in the abdominal cavity or external attachment using a tag holder kit, ensuring easier and safer attachment. User defined text on housing: Tags can have customized text for recapture purposes, important for commercially fished species. Normally, there is a reward for tag return. Spaghetti tag for spotting fish: A yellow plastic tube (spaghetti tag) can be attached to the DST for easier spotting of tagged fish. Key Features Small and reliable archival fish tag Long life and flexible interval setup Depth sensors for different ranges Fish implantation or external attachment User defined text on the housing Using the logger Simple in Use, From Setup to Data Retrieval: Designed for ease of use throughout the research process, from setting up, attaching, to retrieving and analysing the data. Supported by SeaStar software and a Communication Box (purchased with first order). Programming the Logger: Logger is placed into the Communication Box, which connects via USB to a PC. In the SeaStar software, the user sets start time, date, and sampling interval. The tag synchronizes its internal clock with the computer. Single or multiple intervals: Two sampling modes—single interval or up to seven different intervals. Shifting between intervals helps extend measuring period and allows more frequent measurements during certain periods (e.g., spawning). Memory and Battery Life Calculations: Software calculates when memory fills and estimates battery consumption based on interval settings. Uploading the Data: After recapture, data is uploaded to the software, displayed in graphic and tabular form, and can be exported. Each measurement has its own timestamp. Long battery life: Data storage tag can be reused as long as batteries last. Battery life estimation is reported upon connection. Low energy consumption design allows several years of battery life, depending on usage and sampling interval.
